Brands have been snapping up young talent from platforms such as Discord as they continue to invest in the metaverse: Nike has hired a metaverse director and is looking to fill five new full-time metaverse positions Gucci is hiring a Discord manager and Balenciaga is developing an entire department for the metaverse. While metaverse agencies have popped up to help brands navigate their way into virtual worlds, some companies are choosing to make the shift internally, developing talent strategies and internal teams dedicated to these projects. Although the course is centered on teaching students how to build a virtual environment that can be used on anything from digital runways to concept staging, it also includes behind-the-scenes walkthroughs, advice from industry experts, and a video detailing the different career paths available to anyone that learns interactive 3D. Students will learn how to navigate the fashion industry’s digital evolution from current innovators like Burberry, The Fashion Innovation Agency, Gary James McQueen and The Fabricant. The course, called “Unreal Futures: Careers in Fashion”, will be available starting 14 February. ![]() Epic Games, the video game/software developer behind Fortnite, is launching a free educational course to teach young people with an interest in digital fashion the interactive 3D skills needed to secure a job in the metaverse. ![]()
